In short
Demoliciones Málaga carries out house and finca demolitions in Álora and its countryside, by hand, by machine or combined, and removes the rubble sorted by material. In the old quarter around the castle the streets are narrow, so most work is manual or uses compact machines. On rural fincas, access tracks and distance decide the method and the number of truck runs.
Village houses below the castle
Álora lies on the right bank of the Guadalhorce, at about 222 m above sea level. Its old quarter is characterised by narrow streets around the castle, which was mainly built in the Moorish period and stands on the Cerro de las Torres. Houses in this part of town are typically terraced, with load-bearing walls shared with the neighbours and roofs of timber and tile.
Knocking one of these down to build again is a precise job rather than a big one. We take it apart largely by hand, from the roof downwards, keeping the party walls protected and propping them where needed. Rubble is carried or barrowed to a point where a small truck or skip can be loaded. When a house in the old quarter is already in poor condition, the priority shifts to making it safe: see our service for unsafe and ruined buildings.
Fincas and cortijos in the Guadalhorce valley
Outside the town, buyers often find a finca with a main house, a couple of outbuildings and a few structures nobody remembers building. Typical items we take down on these plots:
- Collapsed or half-collapsed farmhouses that cannot be saved.
- Animal pens, stores and casitas built in brick or concrete block.
- Water tanks, concrete platforms and old slabs that are in the way of the new layout.
- Later additions to the main house that the architect wants removed before a renovation.
Our finca demolition service covers these jobs, with the rubble separated and taken away. On remote plots the number of truck runs and the state of the track can weigh more on the job than the demolition itself, which is why we always look at the access first. Cost factors are explained on the sister site's demolition calculator, which gives a rounded band.
Permits for houses and rustic land in Álora
For a building that is not protected, a total or partial demolition in Andalusia is generally done under a declaración responsable filed with the town hall, including on rustic land. If the building is catalogued, lies in a protected setting or is in an archaeological zone, a licencia urbanística is needed. With a castle in the middle of the old quarter, it is sensible for your técnico to check the status of any house close to it with the Ayuntamiento de Álora.
The documents and timescales are set in the town's own ordinance. Our job is to work with your técnico's documentation and agree dates with your architect; we do not file the paperwork ourselves. Before starting, it is checked whether a skip or truck will need to occupy the public road, which requires authorisation. More on this in our guide to demolition permits in Andalusia.
From abroad: what you send and what you get back
Owners who bought in Álora while living in the UK, Ireland or northern Europe usually follow the whole job remotely. To quote, we need photos of the building from each side and from inside, the location of the plot, a description of the access and what must stay. You get a written answer in English, and once the work starts, photos at each stage until the plot is clear.
All materials are sorted on site into concrete and masonry, wood, metals and the other fractions the law requires, and delivered to an authorised waste manager. You receive the delivery receipts, which your técnico may need for the waste deposit with the town hall. Fibre-cement roofs on outbuildings are handled separately; the sister site explains uralita removal in the Valle del Guadalhorce. The full package is described under demolition and debris removal, and nearby we also cover Cártama and Coín.

Frequently asked questions
Can you demolish a house in Álora's narrow old streets?
Yes. In the old quarter we work mainly by hand or with compact machines, taking the house down from the roof and protecting the neighbouring walls.
Do you work at El Chorro and the outlying areas?
Yes. The whole municipality of Álora is within our service area, including rural plots far from the town; access is assessed on the site visit.
Is a demolition on rustic land treated differently?
Not necessarily. Under Andalusian rules a non-protected building on rustic land is generally demolished under a declaración responsable too; protected buildings need a licence.
Can you take down just the outbuildings and leave the farmhouse?
Yes. We can remove selected structures on a finca and leave the main house standing, as agreed with you and your técnico.
What do I need to send for a quote?
Photos from outside and inside, the plot's location, a short description of the access track and a list of what must stay. Send it in English.
Can the old house be partly kept for a renovation?
Yes, if your architect's project says so. We remove only the parts the project specifies and protect the structure that remains.
Is a waste deposit required by the town hall?
Many town halls require a deposit or guarantee for construction waste, returned once delivery to an authorised manager is proven. The amount depends on the municipal ordinance.
Who arranges the disconnection of water and electricity?
The owner, with the supply companies, often through the architect or property manager. We check that supplies are cut before work starts.
What do you need to give me a quote?
Photos of the building and the access, the address or municipality, approximate size, what must stay standing and your deadline. A visit confirms the details.
Can you demolish a house in the old town?
Yes, but in a protected historic centre the demolition needs a licence and, where applicable, heritage authorisation; confirm it with the ayuntamiento first. Narrow streets also mean more hand work.
