Each page below looks at a municipality or comarca from the point of view of a demolition: the kind of buildings found there, the access and street conditions that shape the work, whether there is a protected historic centre and what to check with the ayuntamiento before planning dates.

The province falls into clearly different settings. The Costa del Sol Occidental – Marbella, Estepona, Mijas, Fuengirola, Benalmádena, Torremolinos, Manilva, Casares and Benahavís – is dominated by villas and urbanizaciones built from the 1960s onwards, where most jobs are knock-down-and-rebuild projects. Málaga city combines a protected historic centre with dense neighbourhoods and its own municipal licensing ordinance. The Axarquía – Nerja, Torrox, Vélez-Málaga, Rincón de la Victoria, Algarrobo and the hill villages – mixes coastal development with steep white villages and rural houses. The Guadalhorce valley, Antequera, the Sierra de las Nieves and the Serranía de Ronda bring fincas, cortijos, long tracks and several protected historic centres.

Wherever the property is, the same rule applies: each ayuntamiento sets out the documents and deadlines in its own ordinance, so confirm the procedure with your técnico or the town hall.
